3G-Ready

Building on this distinguished past, the new HDC-1000R Series also looks to the future. Visionary broadcasters have identified 1080 50P/59.94P as the ideal studio production format. To support 1080 50P/59.94P, SMPTE has established a new 3 Gbps (3G) infrastructure standard (SMPTE 425M). Option boards for the HDC-1000, 1000R, 1500 and 1500R will support the 3G standard, which is perfect not only for pristine HD, but also for emerging 3D applications.

New CCDs

Our 1080P CCD image sensors have won industry acclaim. So we made them better. Sony's second-generation 2/3-inch chips feature the same 2 million effective pixels -- a full 1920 x 1080 -- but with a 2 dB improvement signal-to-noise ratio.

New DSP

Sony matches improved imagery with upgraded Digital Signal Processing (DSP). Our 14-bit processing preserves highlight details at up to 600% dynamic range. New DSP Noise Suppression brings the signal-to-noise ratio from a native 56 dB to an astonishing 64 dB. Your talent will love you for Triple Skin Tone Detail and HyperGamma, which help everyone look their best. And your operators will thank you for the new Focus Assist function.
