The Sony NEX-FS700 camcorder has new friends. Introducing the HXR-IFR5 interface with 2K and 4K benefits.

The Sony NEX-FS700 is now the most versatile camera in its class. The camera is known for its 4K S35mm imager, high frame rate (HFR) recording capability and stunning imagery. Now the NEX-FS700 is taken to another level with the newly released HXR-IFR5 interface (sold separately). When combined with the HXR-IFR5 interface and the AXSM memory recorder, the camera system offers 2K and 4K RAW with a variety of HFR modes. The new 2K and 4K RAW capability offers a significant increase in image quality, a broader creative toolset and unprecedented production flexibility — all at an amazing value.

And even more amazing when we add in new HFR capabilities. When linked with the HXR-IFR5 interface and the AXS-R5 memory recorder, the NEX-FS700 can now record full resolution, 2K RAW at up to 240 continuous fps. The system can also record 4K RAW at 60 fps. There is even an HFR mode that records 4K RAW at 120 fps in 4 second "bursts". The new NEX/AXS camera system delivers maximum flexibility and cost-efficient workflows in production. All the recordings use compatible media; file naming conventions, metadata and the RAW workflow enjoyed by our flagship CineAlta™ 4K family. It's a game changer.

With recording performance innovation, compact design and flexible workflows, the Sony NEX-FS700 camera is sure to make many more friends.

The NEX-FS700 will output a 4K RAW bitstream via a single 3G-SDI cable to the HXR-IFR5 interface. The interface docks to the AXS-R5 Access Memory System recorder, sold separately. If you already own the NEX-FS700, the RAW output requires a camera firmware reprogramming, free with the purchase of the HXR-IFR5.

Among today's RAW recording systems, the HXR-IFR5/AXS-R5 combination stands apart.

• RAW Frame Rates
   Recorded fps
    ° 4K (4096 x 2160) 24p, 30p, 60p
    ° 2K (2048 x 1080) 24p, 30p, 60p

   HFR fps:
    ° 4K (4096 x 2160) 120fps 4 second "bursts"
    ° 2K (2048 x 1080) 120fps and 240fps continuous

• 4K Derived 2K RAW at full resolution. There is no line skipping or sensor windowing. So there's no crop factor, no loss in angle of view.

• 12-bit precision. FS700 RAW files capture linear light as 16-bit RAW with a 12-bit payload, in 12 bits of precision. This delivers 64 times as many colors as 10-bit recording.

• Simultaneous RAW + Onboard recording to the camera's internal memory card and the optional AXS-R5 RAW recorder. For seamless conforming in post, you get matching time code, start frame, and stop frame.
