Integration Insights: Understanding Color in Machine Vision

Date: July 22, 2008
Time: 1:00PM EDT - 10:00AM PDT - 5:00PM GMT
Length: Approximately One Hour
Speakers: Jack Ladson, Principal, Color Science Consultancy

Overview:

Color imaging is a fast-growing and frequently used technology in machine-vision applications. While many engineers are familiar with RGB cameras, very few have explored the different color spaces that can be used to analyze, interpret, and understand color information. By transforming RGB color images into different color spaces, different aspects of an image can be understood. For example, one of the most commonly used transforms - the HIS transform - separates hue, intensity, and saturation components making it easier for image processing software to interpret the data collected.
