XDCAM Drive Software (VFAM) Version 3.1.1 for Windows | Release Notes
XDCAM Drive Software (VFAM) Version 3.1.1 for Mac OS X | Release Notes General Notice: The Sony XDCAM Drive Software for MAC OS X only supports Intel based Macs. Provides support for: 32-bit Windows XP Professional SP3 32-bit/64-bit Vista Business, Professional, and Ultimate Editions 32/64-bit Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate Editions SP1 32/64-bit SnowLeopard (Mac OS X 10.6). XDCAM Drive Software (VFAM) for both Windows (version 3.0 and 3.1) and Mac (version 3.0) have been replaced with this version 3.1.1 update to fix a bug in the original version 3.0 driver. This update fixes an interoperability issue when discs are formatted using a PDW-U1 or PDW-U2 running VFAM version 3.0. If you are running the VFAM driver version 3.1 for Windows which was initially released in December 2011, please update it to version 3.1.1 to remain in sync with the changes incorporated in the Mac VFAM version 3.1.1 driver. XDCAM Drive Software (VFAM) Version 3.1.1 must be used with the new USB 3.1.1 PDW-U2 XDCAM Drive. PDW-U1 users are strongly advised to upgrade to XDCAM Drive Software Version 3.1.1 also in order to safely use discs created by the PDW-U2. XDCAM camcorder and deck users should make sure that they are running the most current versions of deck and camcorder firmware available on this web page to maintain compatibility with discs created by drives running VFAM 3.1.1. XDCAM HD 422 Memory Camcorders For model: PMW-500 See the release notes included with the firmware for the list of new standard features in the camcorder. This firmware also activates the following new optional features when the CBK-HD02 is installed in the PMW-500:
XDCAM HD 422 Disc Camcorders For models: PDW-700 and PDW-F800 The following upgrades below should only be installed on a machine running package version 1.2 or higher firmware.
General Notice:
Discs formatted in XDCAM HD 4:2:2 machines running firmware version 1.2x and higher machines create a new folder called USERDATA. XDCAM HD 4:2:2 machines must be running version1.5x firmware in order to recognize "mixed format" recorded discs (i.e. disc which have material shot at different system frequencies). Your machine must also have the SD playback option installed if your mixed format disc includes SD material. In order for older SD and XDCAM HD (420) machines to correctly manage USERDATA discs, please make sure your XDCAM machines are running the following minimum versions: XDCAM SD machines - package version 1.60 or higher XDCAM HD 4:2:0 machines - package version 1.98 or higher PDW-U1 drives - XDCAM Drive Software version 2.21 or higher Includes a number of
new features for the PDW-700 camcorder including support for the
CBKZ-UPG01 and CBK-WA01 options (which add optional support for Live
Logging and Wi-Fi Transmission, respectively) and a number of additional
enhancements. See the supplied Release Notes for full list of updated

Logging and Wi-Fi Transmission, respectively) and a number of additional

same software, so update all similar products at the same time. Make
sure to update all categories of products (decks, camcorders, etc) to
their respective latest versions at the same time. This will insure
proper interoperability.

XDCAM Transfer for Apple Final Cut Pro
Last Updated: December 18, 2011 What's New: This version of XDCAM Transfer is qualified to run under Mac OS X v10.7 (Lion). However, this version is still not compatible with Final Cut Pro X (read the associated release note). Note to Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5, or Compressor 4 users: Summarizing from Apple's tech note HT4714 (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4714) After installing Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5, or Compressor 4, be sure to run Software Update to download and install Pro Apps QuickTime codecs. This update adds the following video codecs needed by certain Sony products for use by QuickTime-based applications:

General Notice: The installer for XDCAM Transfer software version 2.13 no longer installs the Mac i.Link FAM driver. Please download and use the standalone Mac i.Link FAM driver installer. some of the functionalities provided by the following separate software
applications into a single cross platform (Windows and Mac OS)
application: PDZ-1 XDCAM Proxy Browser, PDZ-VX10 Sony XDCAM Viewer,
XDCAM Proxy Viewer, XDCAM Transfer for Final Cut Pro, and XDCAM EX
ClipBrowser. The separate applications will eventually be phased out as
more of their major features are ported over to XDCAM Browser. See the
release notes for a list of new features added to this release.
XDCAM Browser v2.0 and higher is officially qualified to work with 32-bit/64-bit Mac OS X (Lion) Notice XDCAM Browser Version 1.30 (or higher) is required when you are using either the PDW-U1 or PDW-U2 with the new XDCAM Drive Software (VFAM driver) version 3.0. When using XDCAM Browser Version 1.30 on Mac OS X with optical XDCAM decks and camcorders (i.Link FAM interface), please update your i.LINK FAM driver to version 2.3.2. SxS Card and iLink FAM Device Drivers Provides Windows and Mac OS driver support for SxS cards created by the following products:

Mac OS driver support for optical XDCAM camcorders and decks which use
the i.LINK interface to mount the device as an optical disc drive. The
new i.LINK FAM driver for Mac OS X version 2.3.2 has been updated to be
compatible with XDCAM Browser for Mac OS X version 1.3. (The Windows
i.Link FAM driver has not been changed).
Notice Earlier notices on this page erroneously indicated that the latest Windows FAM driver was version 2.3.1, version 2.3.0 is the most current Windows FAM driver version. The installers for XDCAM Transfer Software for Final Cut Pro (PDBZ-KP1) earlier than version 2.13 automatically install an older version of the Mac FAM driver. You must to reload the Mac FAM driver again if you perform an XDCAM Transfer install. Legacy XDCAM Applications Clip browsing software
used to view SxS card recorded by the XDCAM EX products. This
application is being replaced by XDCAM Browser
