The list following shows the most recent XDCAM product software as of the date referenced. This software can be downloaded, free of charge, by following the links below and then selecting the appropriate file version from the “ServicesPlus!” website. Your products will run best, and have the greatest functionality, when they are maintained to run the latest version of software.
As of September 2009 the latest version software can be found in the sections below:
The following upgrade can only be installed on a machine running package version 1.2 or higher firmware.
Discs formatted in Version 1.2x and 1.5x XDCAM HD 4:2:2 machines create a new folder called USERDATA. This version of firmware is required to recognize mixed format recorded discs (you must also have the SD playback option installed also if your mixed format disc includes SD material).
In order for SD and XDCAM HD (420) machines to correctly manage USERDATA discs, please make sure your XDCAM machines are running the following minimum versions:
XDCAM SD machines - package version 1.60 or higher
XDCAM HD 4:2:0 machines - package version 1.98 or higher
PDW-U1 drives - XDCAM Drive Software version 2.21

Mac users will see the same Clip, Edit, Sub, General, and UserData folders under Finder like Windows users.
Windows Users: The zip file for this version now includes 64-bit Vista drivers.
The U1 Utility for Windows and Mac enables you to upgrade the PDW-U1 firmware using either platform. You must use the U1 Utility to upgrade the PDW-U1 firmware to version 2.42.
See note below regarding system requirements.
Note:
The Sony XDCAM Drive software version 2.21 for Mac can only be installed on Intel based Mac running Mac OS X version 10.5.x (Leopard). Currently the Sony XDCAM drive software is not qualified to run under SnowLeopard.
Please be sure to use XDCAM Transfer version 2.10.0 to export MXF files to the PDW-U1 from Final Cut Pro.
32-bit Windows XP and 32-bit Windows Vista
PDZ-1 (XDCAM Proxy Browsing Software) - version 2.60 / FAM version 2.20
PDZ-VX10 (Sony XDCAM Viewer) - version 2.30
Note:
The applications above are not qualified with 64-bit Vista, but the following drivers are available to enable the XDCAM products to be used with other 64-bit applications.
64-bit Microsoft Vista Support
FAM Drivers for XDCAM decks and Camcorders version 2.20
PDW-U1 XDCAM Drive Software (VFAM) version 2.21
Mac OS X 10.4.x (Tiger) and 10.5.x (Leopard) - Intel and PowerPC
PDZ-KP1 (XDCAM Transfer) - version 2.10.0
XDCAM Transfer is compatible with the following Sony products:
XDCAM HD 422 machines running version 1.5 firmware. (new)
XDCAM HD and SD optical products
PDW-U1 optical XDCAM drive running version 2.21 driver software
XDCAM EX products which record on SxS flash cards.
Note:
Please see the notices regarding system requirements for the Sony XDCAM Drive software version 2.21 for the Mac.
XDCAM Transfer relies on the high resolution codecs installed by Final Cut Pro to preview material, so it is important to use the correct version of Final Cut Pro which supports the codec for your product.
Note: This utility requires FAM driver ver 1.5. FAM driver ver 1.5 comes with PDZ-1 ver 2.11
PLEASE NOTE: It is very important that all 'like model' XDCAM products in a system have the same software, so update all similar products at the same time. Make sure to update all categories of products (decks, camcorders, etc) to their respective latest versions at the same time. This will insure proper interoperability.
