XDCAM: Scene Files

One of the many cool features of an XDCAM camcorder is the ability to easily create, upload and select scene files which control the settings for many user adjustable parameters. With these quick setup adjustment files, a user can quickly switch between an over saturated cartoon type setting to a flat, technically accurate, setting within seconds.

Below are carefully selected scene files which can be downloaded and loaded on to a Memory Stick® for use in either:

XDCAM HD422 PDW-700 and PDW-F800    32 scene files
XDCAM HD PDW-F335 and PDW-F355    32 Scene Files
XDCAM HD PDW-F330 and PDW-F350    32 Scene Files
XDCAM SD PDW-510 and PDW-530    10 Scene Files

To use the XDCAM HD scene files, download the scene file and place it on a Memory Stick in this directory: E:\MSSONY\PRO\CAMERA\HD_CAM.

DAYLIGHT - This look provides natural color reproduction under daylight conditions as measured with a DCSLabs ChromaDuMonde chart. It is a good starting point for creating your own daylight looks.

VINTAGE - This look de-saturates all the colors to create a faded or vintage photograph look.

SUBTLE - This look provides subtly warm skin tones with stronger punchier colors than the Portrait look. It can be enhanced further by changing the gamma select, master gamma, and black gamma settings.

SURREAL - This look provides super-saturated colors and strong contrast for heightened reality. Surreal can be enhanced further by altering the master gamma, black gamma, and/or master black settings.

RICH B&W - This look provides an in-camera black and white setting with rich deep blacks.

GRNSCR1 - This look provides neutral color reproduction shifted slightly towards warm yellows and with enhanced green screen separation.

GRNSCR2 - This look provides neutral color reproduction with enhanced green screen separation.

COOLBLUE - This look provides the starting point for an overall blue look. The color temperature of the camera should be set 300K or more lower than the measured color temperature to complete the look. Turn color offset in the camera menus on and change the warm-cool setting to achieve the desired look.

LIQGOLD - This look provides an overall color balance in the golden yellow tones.

YELINUM - This look shifts the overall color balance to cooler yellows than the liquid gold look.

OVERWARM - This look provides overly warm color reproduction suitable for sentimental or romantic scenes. It can be enhanced further by changing the gamma select, master gamma and black gamma settings.

REDGONE - This look diminishes the red tones to create a sepia-toned look with green grass and blue skies.

TONED B&W - This look provides an in-camera black and white setting with warm tones.

TRI-X B&W - This look provides an in-camera black and white setting designed to be used with +3dB or higher gain to recreate the look of high-speed black and white film.

COLD B&W - This look provides an in-camera black and white setting with the cooler black and white tones familiar from silver prints dipped in a selinium wash.

ZOMBIE - This look provides the green skin tones with other worldly colors perfect for horror films.

NORMAL - This look provides accurate neutral color reproduction as measured with a DSCLabs ChromaDuMonde chart. It is a good starting point for making your own looks.

LBEACH - This look provides highly saturated colors with the strong tonal contrast favored for television. In post, the look can be enhanced by further alterations of the shadow and highlight reproduction.

LBEACHC (FILM GAMMA CURVE) - This look provides richly saturated colors with a film gamma that closely approximates the gradual tonal response curve of film. The longer response curve will prove helpful when shooting outdoors.
