GSA Spotlight: Sony's HDV/DVCAM Solution - A new addition to Sony's growing HDV line up

Looking for an affordable way to get into HD shooting? Still committed to the industry-standard DVCAM™ format in your tape library? The new Sony HVR-A1U lets you have the best of both worlds, at the most affordable price.

With the internationally acclaimed HVR-Z1U, Sony provided high-definition field acquisition on a budget. Now, Sony has expanded your HDV™ options by introducing the even more affordable HVR-A1U camcorder, an extremely compact and lightweight camcorder, which is ideal for applications where space is at a premium or extreme mobility is required.

This HVR-A1U is equipped with a newly developed 1/3-inch type, 2.97-megapixel (total) CMOS sensor and an all-new Enhanced Imaging Processor™ that optimizes the performance of the CMOS sensor, providing outstanding high-definition picture quality. And the camcorder sports the same Carl Zeiss Vario Sonnar T® high-definition lens as its Z1U counterpart, though it delivers a 10X zoom versus the HVR-Z1U 12X zoom capability.

Government agencies have long been proponents of the DVCAM™ format, which is why the HVR-A1U may be the right migration path to high-definition video. That's because, in addition to HDV 1080i recording and playback, this camcorder also delivers DVCAM/DV recording and playback. A down-conversion feature of its 1080i recordings is provided for compatibility with production systems in HDV, DVCAM, or DV format. The HVR-A1U also incorporates a variety of convenient and professional features such as XLR audio input, time-code capability, various automatic shooting modes, and still picture recording.

Shoot & Save for Government
For a limited time only, the new HVR-A1U HDV camcorder is now specially priced for government users. Buy it now for as low as $2,248, $500 less than the current GSA schedule listing.

When can you get your hands on a unit? The full line of camcorders (PDW-F350 and PDW-F330), and the companion PDW-F70 recorder are planned to be available March 2006, while the PDW-F30 player and a range of expansion boards are planned to be rolled out in June.
