Infocomm New Products

New Sony Video Projectors Introduced Sony is expanding its extensive line of video projectors at Infocomm in June with five new products:

The VPL-FX52 is a new 6000 ANSI* lumen, native XGA network projector designed for installation in auditoriums, conference centers and lecture halls. Advanced SNMP networking capabilities enable centralized monitoring of projector status over a network using a built-in web server. Users can proactively monitor and trouble-shoot projector status, saving on operating costs, while minimizing service calls and reducing projector downtime.

VPL-FX52The VPL-FX52 is supplied with a power zoom, focus and picture shift lens to suit a variety of fixed installation requirements. This projector can be mounted right side up (floor mount), upside down (ceiling mount) and tilted 90 degrees upward or downward (for mirrored or special applications).

Other professional features include "direct power on," 4 times digital zoom, Freeze-Frame and Auto Pixel Alignment. The VPL-FX52 accepts a wide range of computer and video input signals, both analog and digital.

For applications where more than a standard lens is needed, the VPL-FX52L is an alternative option (not equipped with a lens). Three optional lenses allow the VPL-FX52L to meet a wide range of needs - from long throw projection in large auditoriums to short throw rear projection in museums.

The VPL-ES3 (2000 ANSI lumens, native SVGA resolution) is designed for small to medium size businesses and home office professionals, as well as classroom applications. Its wide range of input connectors, selectable picture modes and low fan noise make it versatile for many applications. The VPL-ES3 is a "step-up" projector at an entry-level price.

A version with XGA resolution, the VPL-EX3, is also available; also with 2,000 ANSI lumen brightness. A "monitor output" feature allows projected image to also be displayed on a separate monitor. The VPL-ES3 can display a 60-inch image (viewable area, measured diagonally), from both computer data and video sources, from only 6 feet away.

For conference rooms, the VPL-ES3 features front-mounted exhaust and low fan noise so the presenter can be easily heard. The VPL-ES3 also has front and rear Infra Red receivers, so the supplied remote control can be effective anywhere in the room. The VPL-ES3 meets a wide range of projection needs with 6 selectable picture modes and 3 black level adjustment modes.

The Sony VPL-CX63 and VPL-CX61 offer a brightness of 3000 ANSI and 2500 ANSI lumens, respectively. Both the VPL-CX63 and CX61 achieve high picture quality with Digital Processing and 10-bit 3D Gamma correction circuit and they provide low fan noise (28dB) for low background noise during presentations.

Both models can be ceiling mounted, with screw holes on the bottom plate provided for use with a suspension-type bracket. Each can be configured on a slope of up to 90 degrees (upwards or downwards), for use as a window display.

The VPL-CX63 and CX61 feature a motorized lens with power zoom and focus, so that users can control both from the projector control panel and the supplied remote commander.

With "Direct Power On/Off," standby mode can be skipped over to activate the VPL-CX63 and CX61 immediately. The VPL-CX63 and CX61 automatically checks the projector's input connectors and selects the one to which an input signal is supplied. Images are projected from the moment the power is turned on.

The VPL-CX63 and CX61 offer Sony's "off-and-go" feature, a built-in circuit that allows you to unplug the projector and carry it away without waiting, because the fan continues to cool the unit.

*ANSI lumen is a standard measuring method of the American National Standards Institute IT7.228. Since there is no uniform method of measuring brightness, specifications will vary among manufacturers.
