Advancements in flat-screen technology now provide government users with true, professional-grade monitoring solutions that deliver CRT-quality imaging with the advantages of LCD.
Sony will introduce of four, new LCD Professional Video monitors at NAB. These monitors will provide images featuring higher resolutions, more accurate signal processing, and a host of new benefits requested by government and broadcast customers than what is now available in LCD.
The first is Sony's most advanced professional flat-screen, the new TriMaster™ BVM-L230 Master Series LCD hybrid monitor. This monitor is the result of over five years of engineering, and will truly change what is expected from LCD monitors. Using a high-resolution 1920x1200 LCD panel developed by Sony exclusively for this product, an LED backlight to produce wide color gamuts, and a signal processing engine, which is precise in all aspects including color management, pixel mapping and scaling, the BVM-L230 delivers images as good, if not better, than the industry leading BVM CRT monitors.
Additionally, Sony is introducing a new LUMA™ line-up at the show, which will include two new high-grade multi-format monitors, the LMD-2450W and the LMD-2050W. The LMD-2450W is a 1920x1200 native LCD and the LMD-2050W is a 1680x1050 native LCD. Both models feature 10-bit signal processing, a new and improved Digital Signal Processing image, which more accurately converts interlace to progressive signals and scales signals to the native LCD size, EIA-608 closed-captioning support, built-in waveform monitoring and audio level metering. These two monitors continue to employ the industry-recognized ChromaTruTM color matching technology, which allows the LCD's to accurately reproduce EBU, ITU-709 or SMPTE color standards with a simple menu setting. The LMD-2450W and LMD-2050W accept video signals up to 1080/60i and also can display 1080/60P signals when using the standard DVI-D input.
Further expanding the LUMA line-up, Sony is also introducing an entry-level LCD model targeted toward more affordable HD production such as HDV™. The new LMD-2030W features a high resolution 1680x1050 native LCD and comes standard with HDMITM input, making it the perfect choice for HDV production. The monitor includes many professional features such as aspect selection, blue only, advanced marker settings and color temperature selection. You are invited to the Display corner at the Sony NAB 2007 booth in order to see these monitors with your own eyes. Seeing is believing, and you will be truly amazed.
