Sony Network Projectors Open New Opportunities for Houses of Worship

The features built-in to the newest networked projectors, including those in the Sony family of display products, make using them, and managing them, as easy as possible.

A Web interface is familiar and intuitive to anyone who has ever gone online. You simply need to just point-and-click to access content stored on a central server or a local computer, and it plays. This eliminates the often time-consuming and confusing process of having to cue-up videotapes or DVDs, as well as the need to have multiple copies handy for presentations elsewhere in the facility. All content is immediately accessible to any projector on the network. Live streams, too, are made easier to project for overflow events such as holidays and special celebrations.

Managing network projectors is easier, since all maintenance and monitoring is centralized. Any authorized computer on the network can access any connected projector. Units can be programmed to shut down automatically after hours - an important consideration since the price of replacement bulbs for projectors left on after use adds considerably to the total cost of operation.

Also, a networked system can track bulb usage so there's no unexpected downtime when bulbs do require replacement. And the network connection provides extra security; should a projector be disconnected from the network unexpectedly, the system can respond by sending an alarm message to alert staff.

Email notifications can be sent to staff alerting them to potential system failures or reminding them of scheduled maintenance. All Sony networkable projectors are also fully compliant with the Simple Network Managed Protocol (SNMP) to make device monitoring more efficient.

Wireless network projectors bring additional benefits in terms of flexibility and ease-of-installation. Retrofitting facilities with wired connections can be costly, and setting up a wireless network can be an inexpensive, flexible solution. Rather than having to run lines to every conference room, classroom or auditorium, wireless network connectors are instantly available. Even in facilities with wired connections, having a wireless network projector adds the ultimate in flexibility. Just pick it up and take it where it's needed. Setting up a presentation is as easy as placing the wireless projector on a table.

Using a facility's existing IT infrastructure also opens the door to incorporating other IP-based technologies into a networked environment, such as Sony's line of IPELA™ IP-based videoconferencing systems and security cameras.

A Projector for Every House of Worship

The Sony line of networked projectors offer a comprehensive offering of portable and installed models tailored to fit the needs, and budget, of any house of worship.

The Sony VPL-FX52 series and VPL-PX41 are designed for permanent installations where their exceptional image quality and brightness provide the utmost viewing experience. The VPL-FX52 delivers 6000 ANSI lumens*, enough light output to illuminate large screens even with the room lights up all the way. In small screen environments or where ambient light can be controlled, the VPL-FX52 light output can be lowered to 5100 ANSI lumens in order to extend the life of the lamp.

The VPL-PX41 is a flexible and powerful unit that can be used in small or large settings. It features 3500 ANSI lumens brightness and native XGA resolution as well as a laser pointer remote control. It can be fitted with optional lenses for applications that require a shorter or longer throw distance.

The Sony wireless network projectors include the VPL-CX86 and VPL-CX76. The VPL-CX86 is designed for installations where wired connections are impractical. It delivers 3000 ANSI lumens brightness and provides the full features of wired models with the added flexibility for installation. The 2500 ANSI lumens VPL-CX76 is a go-anywhere portable design ideal for organizations that need a projector that is good to go whenever and wherever needed throughout the facility.

*ANSI lumen is a standard measuring method of the American National Standards Institute IT7.228. Since there is no uniform method of measuring brightness, specifications will vary among manufacturers.
