Welcome . . .
As we launch this newsletter reaching out to houses of worship, I want to share the sense of commitment and purpose we feel in working with you. Our audio visual technologies are used to provide support in fulfilling your mission, so we understand the special role we are called to play in the life of your community.

Your work is unlike any other, and so our work must also rise to a different level. Your production requirements are unique and very specific to your own facility. Whether you're retrofitting a sanctuary, broadcasting over the air or streaming on the web or you need a network for extending A/V support for overflow areas, classrooms, or lobbies, our goal is to tailor the right system you need to effectively communicate your messages.

We also understand that your congregations are growing and evolving, heightening the need even further for a broader range of A/V options that can enhance your ministry and your worship services.

We are excited about maintaining existing friendships and having the opportunity to form new relationships as we bring forward a new generation of technology tools for the house of worship market. These solutions mark fundamental advances in AV/IT technology that can expand your opportunities and avenues for outreach.

Our focus at Sony is on helping religious organizations operate more effectively through networked technology and dynamic visual communications. To accomplish this goal, we have created a new “Segment Marketing” team, dedicated to understanding the specific technology requirements of individual market groups, and then helping to provide customized solutions that fit their production needs and budgets.

The House of Worship segment is a cornerstone of this effort and Sony's House of Worship eNews provides an overview of how we can work together with you in this dynamic and growing area.

This first edition of the newsletter provides an overview of our work with religious communities. Our line of pro audio products, LCD projectors and Anycast Station live production system are just some of the Sony technologies you'll read about.

We applaud you on your efforts to use A/V technology creatively to provide new experiences for your congregations. Our goal with these newsletters is to alert you to the many ways we can contribute to your work. Please contact us with your ideas, input and advice so we can be of better service to you providing technology to communicate your Vision.

Lakewood Church Media Conference showcases Sony AV/IT solutions for Houses of Worship

35 Ministries Attend Gathering on Enhancing Worship with Technology
Sony's efforts to deepen relationships with the house-of-worship market got officially underway last month, when the world-renowned Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas hosted its first-ever Lakewood Media Conference.

The three-day conference, jointly developed by Lakewood and Sony, attracted 130 participants from more than 35 ministries around the country. Attendees came from different-sized ministries, but they all shared a common goal: to learn new ways of using technology to enhance communications with their congregations and audiences worldwide.

The conference also served as a showcase for a range of Sony standard and high definition products, and included hands-on demonstrations of how these solutions can be integrated into the daily life of a ministry.

Lakewood Pastor Joel Osteen and his wife Victoria met personally with guests during the conference to share their remarkable story of how they have grown their local ministry into a worldwide phenomenon that touches millions of lives through its services and, through the help of Sony broadcast and production technologies.

“Lakewood Church is a perfect example of how a ministry can blend its message with technology to create a truly unique worship experience,” said Tom Mykietyn, general manager of segment marketing for Sony Electronics. “It was the perfect setting for this conference and allowed leaders in the worship community to understand and see how to produce better audio, video and lighting elements to keep congregations more effectively engaged during services.”

Mykietyn added that the Lakewood Media Conference is the first of what Sony plans to be a series of market-specific events designed to increase the sharing of ideas among industry professionals. In addition to houses of worship, Sony's segment marketing team is also concentrating on the government, medical and education markets.   more >

AWS-G500 Anycast Station™ Live Content Producer

For almost $20,000, the Sony Anycast Station had better be good—and it is. But can you justify it? Well, yes, if you consider the cost savings of the smaller crew it makes possible multiplied over time, plus the savings of not buying other pieces of gear whose functions it integrates.

SONY Network Projectors open new opportunities for Houses of Worship
Advancements in networked projection have removed many of the issues traditionally associated with this task, and have allowed ministries to significantly increase the production values of their services.

By definition, a “networkable” projector can connect to a LAN via wired and/or wireless systems, typically using a TCP/IP interface. One benefit of putting display devices on a network is that it allows system monitoring and control to be performed from one centralized location using an existing IT infrastructure. It's also more convenient and less costly than running conventional serial control cables.
