The video camera and all it's wondrous technology should be held in your hands and tested to the limit of its abilities and then it should become transparent. The PMW-F3 has allowed me to film, noise free, in situations that I previously only dreamed of.

While taxis skid and bus chains clink up the avenue, winter's first snow transformed Manhattan's Central Park into a sparkling wonderland. With my EX3 safely bundled in a protective coat and filter I set out to film the magnificence of nature's effect on the city. The 64gb SxS cards allowed me to shoot for hours without once exposing the camera to the elements.

Director/DP Chuck Fishbein took the PMW500 down to Six Flags Great Adventure to record the shrieks and howls of "Fright Night" for the park's annual celebration of Halloween. "Hand held or on sticks the camera is a joy to use", says Fishbein. "With two 64 gig cards and one battery, I was able to film for nearly 4 hours straight without feeling fatigued."

New York is magical in the autumn light. The weather is cool yet the sun's glow is warm, casting long shadows up the avenues. With the opportunity to once again use Sony's new PMW500 I headed back to the city to film the last bits of golden light.

My love affair with New York City is no secret and I spend hours filming in and around her streets. Sometimes the best place to view Manhattan is from across the Hudson River in New Jersey.

From Six Until Dawn was filmed over several evenings in New York City during those hours. Manhattan is in a constant state of motion and I have always been inspired by its energy.

Steam vents, taxis, subways, statues and even pretzel vendors are woven deep into the fabric of Manhattan. I love to set up my camera in one place and see just how many interesting images I can find before I move on to another spot. Filmed in 1080 24P with the Sony EX 3 using the kit lens, as well as a Nikon 180mm 2.8 lens.

It was a beautiful day in early November. Leaves were still falling. We brought our daughter Ellie, then seven months old, for her first stroll through New York City's Central Park. These are some of the things that caught her attention and mine. Filmed in 1080 24P with a Sony EX 3 during a two-hour walk in the park.
