HDMI
Designed primarily for TVs and other consumer AV equipment, HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) is a standard I/O interface for carrying uncompressed digital video and audio signals via a single cable; it is essentially the same as DVI plus audio. Note that the specifications of some equipment, such as TVs from other manufacturers, may prevent them from displaying personal content (home movies) played back on the HVR-V1U using the HDMI jack; to avoid this problem, use another output (e.g. component video).

16:9 Wide "Clear Photo LCD plus"
Maximizing the efficiency of nonlinear editing
HD shooting requires accurate focusing, so the quality of the LCD monitor is very important.
The HVR-V1U uses a 3.5-inch, 16:9 wide "Clear Photo LCD plus" to give a wide viewing angle, high resolution, a wide range of colors, and a contrast ratio 160% greater than its predecessor.
